What is the Present Moment?
Sep 20, 2024What is the Present Moment?
The concept of the Present Moment can be elusive. Where is it in relation to Time and Space? How do we get there? Where and when is it really??
It sounds like it should be about Time. Not the Past, Not the future, the Now. Yes, totally. But it's more than that. How do we get to Now?
Ok, let’s see what it has to do with “space”…. Where are we in space? Are we in our heads? Are we outside of ourselves? Are we in the core of our Being? Where would that be if we could be THERE? Or really, HERE.
The present moment isn’t about thinking, it's about Being. And yes, that seems elusive, but it doesn’t have to be.
What I’ve found is that when we learn to Center ourselves, when we settle into our bodies in a loving and connected way, everything starts to work better.
We stop overthinking. We calm our Nervous System. We Breathe more fully. We access Inner Wisdom. We connect to Spirit. We feel Whole.
It may sound like a reach, but it's not. We’re the ones that complicate it. By thinking too much. By trying too hard. By thinking we don’t have what it takes. But we all have what it takes because it is part of our Human Design. Because we’re a part of Nature. Because the present moment is always happening.
We can simplify the process. And synchronize with life. We can synchronize with our humanness.
Like I said, the present moment isn’t about thinking, it's about Being.
So to Center ourselves, we can settle into ourselves, into our wholeness. This includes Mind, Body & Spirit. When we allow our body to be the vessel that holds our beingness, we start to feel it. It's a feeling, not a thought. Can you feel it? Can you feel your Center?
Feeling our center is the fastest way that I’ve found to get into the present moment. Feel your Center. I like to refer to this as the center of gravity of attention, and for most people, this space is somewhere in the pelvis, just like the center of gravity. This space grounds us. It acts as a counterbalance to the world around us. It gives us a safe place inside ourselves, where there is less thought and more Presence. And this gets us to the Present Moment. Can you feel it?
The Present Moment is a lovely place to be in Time and Space. I wish that for all of us, so that we can live our daily lives with more Peace, Health, and Fulfillment.
Being in the Present Moment is about all of the little moments and being present in them, throughout the day. It just takes a bit of practice, and Presence.
